Sahih al-Bukhari 3149 (Book 57, Hadith 57) #3011
Generosity in the Face of Rudeness

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) was generous and kind to a Bedouin who pulled his garment, despite the Bedouin's rudeness.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: While I was walking with the Prophet who was wearing a Najrani outer garment with a thick hem, a bedouin came upon the Prophet and pulled his garment so violently that I could recognize the impress of the hem of the garment on his shoulder, caused by the violence of his pull. Then the bedouin said, "Order for me something from Allah's Fortune which you have". The Prophet turned to him and smiled, and ordered that a gift be given to him.

QUICK LESSONS:
Respond kindly even when faced with aggression or rudeness from others.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's (ﷺ) generosity and kindness even when faced with rudeness. In this hadith, Anas bin Malik recounts an incident where he was walking with the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). A bedouin came up to them and pulled on the Prophet's garment so hard that it left an impression on his shoulder. Despite this rude behavior, instead of getting angry or punishing him, the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) smiled and ordered for a gift to be given to him. This shows us that we should always respond with kindness even when faced with rudeness or aggression from others. We should not let our anger get in our way of being generous and kind towards others no matter how they treat us.
