Responding to the Call of Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) instructed his followers to repeat the words of the Mu'adh-dhin when they hear the call to prayer.

It was narrated that Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'When you hear the call (to prayer), say what the Mu'adh-dhin says'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Repeat what is said by the Mu’adh-dhin when hearing Adhan/Athan
EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught us that when we hear the call to prayer, known as Adhan or Athan, we should repeat what is said by the Mu’adh-dhin. This is a reminder for us that we should be mindful and obedient in our worship of Allah. We must remember that it is not enough just to hear and understand what Allah has commanded us; rather, we must act upon it too. This hadith also teaches us about respect for those who are appointed by Allah as His messengers on earth, such as Imams and Mu’adh-dhins who remind us of our duties towards Him.
