Making Up Missed Prayers

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) taught that if a person forgets or sleeps and misses their prayer, they should perform it when they remember it.

It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: 'The Prophet was asked about a man who forgets prayer or sleeps and misses it. He said: 'he performs it when he remembers it'."
حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَهْضَمِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ سُئِلَ النَّبِيُّ ـ ـ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يَغْفُلُ عَنِ الصَّلاَةِ أَوْ يَرْقُدُ عَنْهَا قَالَ ‏ "‏ يُصَلِّيهَا إِذَا ذَكَرَهَا

This hadith teaches us the importance of prayer in Islam. It is narrated by Anas bin Malik that the Prophet was asked about a man who forgets to pray or falls asleep and misses his prayer. The Prophet replied that he should perform the prayer when he remembers it. This hadith emphasizes on making up for missed prayers as soon as possible, even if one has forgotten or fallen asleep and missed them. It also shows us how important it is to be mindful of our prayers and not forget them in our daily lives.
