Praying While Suppressing Urination or Defecation

SUMMARY: It is not permissible for a Muslim to pray while suppressing the need to urinate or defecate.

It was narrated from Thawban that: The Messenger of Allah said: "No one among the Muslims should stand to pray when he is suppressing (the need to urinate or defecate), until he has to relieve himself".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that it is not permissible for a Muslim to pray while suppressing the need to urinate or defecate. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that we should take care of our physical needs before engaging in prayer, as it is disrespectful and distracting from the prayer itself. We should make sure that we are comfortable and relaxed when praying, so that we can focus on our worship and be mindful of what we are saying. This hadith also teaches us about being mindful of our physical needs in general, as they can often be neglected in favor of other activities. Taking care of ourselves physically helps us stay healthy and focused on what matters most - worshipping Allah SWT.
