QUICK LESSONS:
Be generous with gifts; Show appreciation for small gifts; Perform ablutions properly
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the importance of ablution in Islam. It is narrated that An-Najashi gave the Prophet a gift of a pair of plain black leather socks, which he put on and then performed ablution by wiping over them. This indicates that it is permissible to wipe over leather socks during ablution, as long as they are not too thick or tight-fitting. It also shows us the importance of being generous with gifts, as An-Najashi was generous enough to give the Prophet something so simple yet meaningful. Furthermore, this hadith teaches us to be grateful for even small gifts given to us by others, as we can see how much appreciation the Prophet showed for this gift from An-Najashi.
