Taking the Cleaner Path

SUMMARY: The Prophet advised a woman to take the cleaner path instead of the filthy one.

It was narrated that a woman from (the tribe of) Banu 'Abdul-Ashhal said: "I said to the prophet: 'Between the mosque and I there is a filthy path'. He said: 'After that is there a cleaner path?' I said: 'Yes'. He said: 'This is (a remedy) for that'."
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عِيسَى، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنِ امْرَأَةٍ، مِنْ بَنِي عَبْدِ الأَشْهَلِ قَالَتْ سَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ ـ ـ فَقُلْتُ إِنَّ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ الْمَسْجِدِ طَرِيقًا قَذِرَةً ‏.‏ قَالَ ‏"‏ فَبَعْدَهَا طَرِيقٌ أَنْظَفُ مِنْهَا ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ ‏.‏ قَالَ ‏"‏ فَهَذِهِ بِهَذِهِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about taking the cleaner path instead of a filthy one. The Prophet was asked by a woman from Banu 'Abdul-Ashhal about a path between her and the mosque that was dirty and he asked if there was another cleaner path available. When she said yes, he told her to take that one instead. This hadith teaches us that we should always strive for cleanliness in our lives and environment as it is important for our health and wellbeing. It also shows us how much importance Islam places on cleanliness as it is an integral part of faith in Allah SWT. We should always try to keep ourselves and our surroundings clean so that we can be closer to Allah SWT through prayer and worship.
