Sunan Ibn Majah 530 (Book 1, Hadith 264) #29882
The Vastness of Allah's Mercy

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught a Bedouin to not limit Allah's mercy and kindness, and instead to accept it in its entirety.

It was narrated that Wathilah bin Asqa' said: "A Bedouin came to the Prophet and said: 'O Allah, have mercy on me and Muhammed, and do not allow anyone else to share in your Mercy'. The Prophet said: 'You have placed restrictions on something that is vast, woe to you!' Then he (the Bedouin) spread his legs and urinated, and the Companions of the Prophet told him to stop, but the Messenger of Allah said: 'Let him be,' then he called for a vessel of water and poured it over (the urine)".

QUICK LESSONS:
Accept all forms of blessings from Allah without any restrictions .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the vastness of Allah's mercy and kindness. It was narrated by Wathilah bin Asqa', who said that a Bedouin came to the Prophet and asked for mercy for himself and for Muhammed, but not anyone else. The Prophet then told him that he was limiting something that is vast, which means he should accept all of Allah's mercy without any restrictions. To demonstrate this point, the Bedouin spread his legs and urinated, which shocked some of the Companions present. However, instead of reprimanding him or getting angry with him, the Messenger called for a vessel full of water to pour over it as an example that even though something may seem wrong or bad at first glance, it can still be accepted if done with good intentions. This hadith teaches us about how limitless Allah's mercy is - we should never limit ourselves from accepting His blessings in our lives no matter what form they come in.
