Sahih al-Bukhari 3125 (Book 57, Hadith 34) #2988
Distributing Land with Gratitude

SUMMARY: Umar was grateful for the Muslims who had not yet been born, and wished to distribute the land he conquered in a similar way to how Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) distributed the land of Khaibar.

Narrated Aslam: 'Umar said, "Were it not for those Muslims who have not come to existence yet, I would have distributed (the land of) every town I conquer among the fighters as the Prophet distributed the land of Khaibar".

QUICK LESSONS:
Be generous with what you have been given and share it with others in need; Show gratitude towards Allah; Strive for justice when distributing resources.

EXPLANATIONS:
Umar ibn al-Khattab was a companion of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and one of his closest advisors. He was known for his generosity and justice, as well as his gratitude towards Allah. In this hadith, Umar expresses his gratitude by wishing to distribute the land he conquers among fighters in a similar way that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ distributed the land of Khaibar. This shows us that we should be thankful for all our blessings, even those we have not yet received or experienced. We should also strive to be generous with what we have been given and share it with others in need.
