Sunan Ibn Majah 502 (Book 1, Hadith 236) #29854
Praying Without Ablution

SUMMARY: The Prophet kissed one of his wives and then went to pray without performing ablution.

'Urwah bin Az-Subair narrated from 'Aishah, that: The Messenger of Allah kissed one of his women (ie, wives), then he went to perform the prayer, and he did not perform ablution. I ('Urwah bin Zubair) said: "That was not anyone but you,' and she smiled".

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow Allah's commands with respect and humility .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of prayer and ablution in Islam. It is narrated by 'Urwah bin Az-Subair from 'Aishah, that the Prophet kissed one of his wives, then he went to perform the prayer without performing ablution. When Urwah asked if it was him, she smiled in response. This hadith shows us that even though the Prophet was a messenger of Allah and did not need to perform ablutions before every prayer, he still did so out of respect for Allah's commands. It also teaches us that we should always strive to follow Allah's commands even if we are not required to do so out of respect for Him. Furthermore, it teaches us that we should be humble when asking questions as Urwah asked Aisha with respect rather than accusing her directly.
