The Prophet's Method of Ablution

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) would rub the sides of his face and run his fingers through his beard when performing ablution.

It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said: "Whenever the Messenger of Allah performed ablution, he rubbed the sides of his face then run his fingers through his beard from beneath".
حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَوْزَاعِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ قَيْسٍ، حَدَّثَنِي نَافِعٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ إِذَا تَوَضَّأَ عَرَكَ عَارِضَيْهِ بَعْضَ الْعَرْكِ ثُمَّ شَبَكَ لِحْيَتَهُ بِأَصَابِعِهِ مِنْ تَحْتِهَا

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the method of ablution that was practiced by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Ablution is a ritual washing performed by Muslims before prayer or other acts that require physical and spiritual purity. According to this hadith, when performing ablution, the Prophet would rub both sides of his face with wet hands and then run his fingers through his beard from beneath. This action was done in order to ensure that all parts of the body were washed properly during ablution. It teaches us that we should be thorough in our religious practices and pay attention to even small details so as not to miss any part while performing rituals such as ablution.
