Ablution in the Time of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: During the time of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), men and women used to perform ablution from a single vessel.

It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said: "Men and women used to perform ablution from a single vessel during the time of the Messenger of Allah".
حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ، حَدَّثَنِي نَافِعٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ كَانَ الرِّجَالُ وَالنِّسَاءُ يَتَوَضَّئُونَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ـ ـ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how men and women used to perform ablutions during the time of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). It was narrated by Ibn 'Umar that both genders would use a single vessel for this purpose. This shows us that Muslims should be respectful towards each other when performing their religious duties. It also teaches us that we should not be ashamed or embarrassed when it comes to fulfilling our religious obligations as long as we are following Islamic teachings. Furthermore, it reminds us that we should always strive to follow the example set by our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
