Sunan Ibn Majah 349 (Book 1, Hadith 83) #29701
Minor Sins Punished in the Grave

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) passed by two graves and said that the people in them were being punished for minor sins, one of which was urine and the other backbiting.

Bahr bin Marrar narrated that his grandfather Abu Bakrah said: "The Messenger of Allah passed by two graves, and he said: 'They are being punished but they are not being punished for anything major. One of them is being punished because of urine, and the other is being punished because of backbiting'."

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how even small sins can be punished in the grave. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ passed by two graves and said that those inside were being punished for minor sins, one of which was urine and the other backbiting. Urine here refers to not cleaning oneself properly after using the restroom, while backbiting is speaking ill of someone behind their back or spreading rumors about them. This hadith teaches us that even small sins are taken seriously by Allah SWT, so we should strive to avoid all types of sinning as much as possible. We should also remember to always be mindful of our words and actions because they will have consequences both in this life and in the hereafter.
