Sunan Ibn Majah 347 (Book 1, Hadith 81) #29699
Minor Sins and Punishment in the Grave

SUMMARY: The hadith is about two people who were being punished in their graves for minor sins, one of which was not taking care to prevent urine from getting on his clothes and the other was spreading malicious gossip.

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: "The Messenger of Allah passed by two new graves, and he said: 'They are being punished, but they are not being punished for anything major. One of them was heedless about preventing urine from getting on his clothes, and the other used to walk about spreading malicious gossip'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect Allah's creation, be mindful of your actions, repent before death .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about two people who were being punished in their graves for minor sins. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ passed by two new graves and said that they were being punished but not for anything major. One of them was not taking care to prevent urine from getting on his clothes, which is a sign of disrespect towards Allah's creation, and the other used to walk around spreading malicious gossip or backbiting about others. This hadith teaches us that even small sins can be punishable if we do not repent for them before our death. We should always strive to be mindful of our actions so that we can avoid punishment in this life as well as the hereafter.
