Sunan Ibn Majah 316 (Book 1, Hadith 50) #29668
Proper Etiquette for Relieving Oneself

SUMMARY: The Prophet taught his companions to use three stones when relieving themselves, and not to face the Qiblah or clean themselves with their right hands.

Salman said that one of the idolaters said to him, while they were making fun of him: "I see that your companion (the Prophet) is teaching you everything, even how to relieve yourselves?" He said: "Yes indeed. He has ordered us not to face the Qiblah (prayer direction) nor to clean ourselves with our right hands, and not to be content with anything less than three stones, which are not to include any excrement or bones".

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow proper etiquette when relieving oneself by facing away from Qibla , using at least three stones which do not include any excrement or bones ,and cleansing with left hand instead of right hand .

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad taught his companions proper etiquette when relieving oneself. He instructed them not to face the Qiblah, which is the direction of prayer in Islam, while doing so. Additionally, he told them not to clean themselves with their right hands as this is considered unclean in Islamic tradition. Lastly, he said that they should use at least three stones when cleaning up after relieving oneself; these stones should not include any excrement or bones. These teachings are important for Muslims as they remind us of our responsibility towards maintaining a clean environment and respecting our own bodies by following proper hygiene practices.

The Prophet's teachings also emphasize the importance of modesty and humility in all aspects of life; even something as mundane as going to the bathroom can be done with respect and dignity if we follow these instructions from him. This hadith serves as a reminder that we must always strive to be mindful of our actions and words no matter what situation we find ourselves in - even if it's something seemingly insignificant like using the restroom!
