The Prophet's Love for Medina

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was expressing his love for the people of Medina and wishing he could stay with them.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Adi bin Hamra Az-Zuhri: "I saw the Messenger of Allah standing at Al-Hazwarah, and he said: "By Allah! You are the best of Allah's earth, and the most beloved of Allah's earth to Allah, and if it were not that I was expelled from you I would not have left".
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَمْرَاءَ الزُّهْرِيِّ، قَالَ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَاقِفًا عَلَى الْحَزْوَرَةِ فَقَالَ ‏ "‏ وَاللَّهِ إِنَّكِ لَخَيْرُ أَرْضِ اللَّهِ وَأَحَبُّ أَرْضِ اللَّهِ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَلَوْلاَ أَنِّي أُخْرِجْتُ مِنْكِ مَا خَرَجْتُ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ ‏.‏ وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ يُونُسُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ نَحْوَهُ ‏.‏ وَرَوَاهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ‏.‏ وَحَدِيثُ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَمْرَاءَ عِنْدِي أَصَحُّ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) deep love and affection for the city of Medina. He was standing at Al-Hazwarah when he said that if it were not that he was expelled from there, he would not have left. This shows how much the Prophet loved this city and its people. He wished to stay with them forever but due to certain circumstances, he had to leave. This hadith teaches us that we should always show our love and appreciation towards our hometowns or places where we live in order to make them better places for everyone living there. It also teaches us that even though we may have to leave a place due to certain reasons, we should still remember it fondly in our hearts and never forget its importance in our lives.
