Offering Two Rak'at Upon Return From a Journey

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) asked Jabir to offer two rak'at when he returned from a journey.

Narrated Jabir: Once I returned from a journey and the Prophet said (to me) "Offer two rak'at". (Sirar is a place near Medina).
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ مُحَارِبِ بْنِ دِثَارٍ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ قَدِمْتُ مِنْ سَفَرٍ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ‏ "‏ صَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ‏"‏‏.‏ صِرَارٌ مَوْضِعٌ نَاحِيَةً بِالْمَدِينَةِ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is narrated by Jabir, and it speaks of the importance of prayer and obedience. When Jabir returned from a journey, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ asked him to offer two rak’at in prayer. This shows that even after returning from a long journey, one should not forget their obligations towards Allah SWT and should continue to pray regularly. It also teaches us the importance of obedience; we must always obey the commands of our beloved Prophet ﷺ without hesitation or delay. Furthermore, this hadith also highlights the significance of travel in Islam; Muslims are encouraged to travel for knowledge and spiritual growth as well as for trade and business purposes.
