Jami at-Tirmidhi 3861 (Book 49, Hadith 261) #29523
The Value of the Companions

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) warned against insulting his companions, and stated that even if one were to spend a large amount of money, it would not be equal to the value of even half a Mudd of one of them.

Narrated Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri: that the Messenger of Allah said: "Do not abuse my Companions, for by the One in Whose Hand is my soul! If one of you were to spend gold the like of Uhud, it would not equal a Mudd - nor half of it - of one of them".

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect those who followed and supported Prophet Muhammad during his lifetime .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance and value that should be given to the companions of Prophet Muhammad. It is narrated by Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri that Prophet Muhammad said “Do not abuse my companions, for by the One in Whose Hand is my soul! If one of you were to spend gold the like of Uhud, it would not equal a Mudd - nor half of it -of one of them”. This hadith teaches us how much respect we should have for those who followed and supported Prophet Muhammad during his lifetime. Even if someone were to spend an immense amount such as gold equivalent to Mount Uhud, it would still not be enough compared to what these people gave up for their faith in Allah and His Messenger. We must remember this when we think about or talk about these great people who sacrificed so much for our religion.
