Acceptance of Islam by the People

SUMMARY: The people accepted Islam while 'Amr bin Al-'As was one of the few who believed in it.

Narrated 'Uqbah bin 'Amir: that the Messenger of Allah said: "The people submitted while 'Amr bin Al-'As believed".
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ مِشْرَحِ بْنِ هَاعَانَ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ أَسْلَمَ النَّاسُ وَآمَنَ عَمْرُو بْنُ الْعَاصِي ‏"‏ ‏.‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ إِلاَّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ مِشْرَحِ بْنِ هَاعَانَ وَلَيْسَ إِسْنَادُهُ بِالْقَوِيِّ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the acceptance of Islam by the people. It is narrated by Uqbah bin Amir that Prophet Muhammad said that when he preached about Islam, most people accepted it while 'Amr bin Al-'As was one of those who believed in it from the beginning. This hadith teaches us to have faith and trust in Allah and His teachings, even if we are alone in believing them. We should also be patient and not give up on our beliefs even if others do not accept them at first.
