Naming Babies and Performing Tahnik

SUMMARY: The Prophet saw a lamp in the house of Az-Zubair and assumed that Asma had given birth. He then named the baby 'Abdullah and performed Tahnik with a date.

Narrated Ibn Abi Mulaikah: from 'Aishah, that the Prophet saw a lamp in the house of Az-Zubair, so he said: "O 'Aishah, I do not think except that Asma has given birth, so do not name him until I should name him". So he named him 'Abdullah, and he (performed Tahnik) with a date that was in his hand.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about naming babies and performing tahnik. The Prophet saw a lamp in the house of Az-Zubair which indicated that Asma had given birth to a baby. He then named the baby 'Abdullah and performed tahnik with a date that was in his hand. Performing tahnik is an Islamic tradition where one chews on dates or other sweet items such as raisins, figs, etc., then places it on the baby's palate while reciting prayers for its well-being. It is believed to be beneficial for both physical health as well as spiritual growth of the child. This hadith also teaches us about being mindful of our actions since even small things can have great implications - like lighting up lamps to celebrate births! It also encourages us to be generous towards others by giving them gifts when they are celebrating special occasions such as births or weddings etc., which will bring joy into their lives.
