Jami at-Tirmidhi 3726 (Book 49, Hadith 123) #29385
Allah's Private Conversation with Ali

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was speaking privately with Ali and people were questioning why it was taking so long. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) then clarified that he wasn't speaking to him, but rather Allah was.

Narrated Jabir: "The Messenger of Allah called 'Ali on the Day (of the battle) of At-Ta'if, and spoke privately with him, so the people said: 'His private conversation with his cousin has grown lengthy'. So the Messenger of Allah said: 'I did not speak privately with him, rather Allah spoke privately with him'."

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the conversation between the Prophet Muhammad and his cousin, Ali. People were questioning why their conversation was taking so long, and the Prophet clarified that he wasn't actually talking to him - it was Allah who was having a private conversation with him. This hadith teaches us that we should never question or doubt what is happening between two people if we don't know what is going on - even if it seems strange or out of the ordinary. We should also remember that Allah can speak directly to us in our own lives, if we are open to hearing His message.
