Jami at-Tirmidhi 3573 (Book 48, Hadith 204) #29222
The Power of Supplication

SUMMARY: Allah will answer any supplication of a Muslim, as long as it is not sinful or involves severing ties of kinship. Allah has more than what we can ask for.

Jubair bin Nufair narrated that 'Ubadah bin As-Samit narrated to them that, the Messenger of Allah said: "There is not a Muslim upon the earth who calls upon Allah with any supplication, except that Allah grants it to him, or he turns away from him the like of it in evil; as long as he does not supplicate for something sinful, or the severing of the ties of kinship". So a man from the people said: "What if we should increase (in it)" He said: "(With) Allah is more".

QUICK LESSONS:
Make sincere requests from God without involving sinfulness or breaking family ties

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the power of supplication in Islam. It teaches us that if a Muslim calls upon Allah with any supplication, then Allah will grant it to him or turn away from him the like of it in evil. However, this does not apply if the supplicant asks for something sinful or involves severing ties of kinship. The Prophet Muhammad also taught us that with Allah is more than what we can ask for; He has an abundance and His mercy is infinite. Therefore, Muslims should always turn to Him in prayer and trust that He will answer their prayers according to His wisdom and mercy.
