The Value of Asking for Wellbeing

SUMMARY: Allah loves it when people ask for wellbeing.

Ibn Umar narrated that the Messenger of Allah said : "Allah has not been asked for anything more beloved to Him than being asked for Al-'Afiyah.
حَدَّثَنَا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ الْكُوفِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ الْكُوفِيُّ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، وَهُوَ الْمُلَيْكِيُّ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ مَا سُئِلَ اللَّهُ شَيْئًا أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ أَنْ يُسْأَلَ الْعَافِيَةَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ إِلاَّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُلَيْكِيِّ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith, narrated by Ibn Umar, tells us that Allah loves it when we ask Him for wellbeing. It is a reminder to us that we should always be asking Allah for our wellbeing and the wellbeing of those around us. We should also remember to thank Him whenever He grants us with good health and safety. This hadith teaches us the importance of being grateful to Allah and how much He values our prayers and requests. It also encourages us to make du’a regularly as this is one way in which we can show our appreciation towards Him.
