Not Leaving a Single Dirham of Ransom

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised not to leave a single Dirham of ransom for a nephew.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: Some Ansari men asked permission from Allah's Messenger saying, "O Allah's Messenger ! Allow us not to take the ransom of our nephew Al 'Abbas. The Prophet replied, "Do not leave a single Dirham thereof".
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ أَنَّ رِجَالاً، مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ اسْتَأْذَنُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ائْذَنْ فَلْنَتْرُكْ لاِبْنِ أُخْتِنَا عَبَّاسٍ فِدَاءَهُ‏.‏ فَقَالَ ‏ "‏ لاَ تَدَعُونَ مِنْهَا دِرْهَمًا

It was narrated by Anas bin Malik that some Ansari men asked permission from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to not take the ransom of their nephew Al 'Abbas. The Prophet ﷺ replied that they should not leave even a single dirham thereof. This hadith teaches us that we should fulfill our obligations and responsibilities no matter how small or insignificant they may seem.
