Prostration to Allah's Power and Ability

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) prostrating to Allah and praising Him for His power and ability.

Aishah narrated: "When the Messenger of Allah would prostrate (for recitation of) the Qur’an, he would say: 'I have prostrated my face to the One Who created it, and made its hearing and vision, through His ability and power (Sajada wajhi lilladhi khalaqahu wa shaqqa sam'ahu wa baṣarahu bi ḥawlihi wa quwwatihi).’"
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الثَّقَفِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ الْحَذَّاءُ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ يَقُولُ فِي سُجُودِ الْقُرْآنِ بِاللَّيْلِ ‏ "‏ سَجَدَ وَجْهِي لِلَّذِي خَلَقَهُ وَشَقَّ سَمْعَهُ وَبَصَرَهُ بِحَوْلِهِ وَقُوَّتِهِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the importance of prostrating to Allah in gratitude for His power and ability. It was narrated by Aishah that when the Prophet Muhammad would recite from the Quran he would prostrate himself before Allah in praise of His power and ability. He would say "I have prostrated my face to the One Who created it, and made its hearing and vision through His ability and power". This hadith teaches us that we should be grateful for all that we have been blessed with by Allah Almighty. We should take time out of our day to thank Him for all He has given us including our sight, hearing as well as other abilities such as strength or intelligence. We should also remember that everything comes from Him so we must always strive to use these gifts wisely in order to please Him.
