Jami at-Tirmidhi 3413 (Book 48, Hadith 44) #29062
Reciting Prayers After Salat

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) ordered his followers to recite certain phrases after every prayer, and then later modified the number of times they should be recited.

Zaid bin Thabit (ra) said: "We were ordered to say the Tasbiḥ at the end of every Salat thirty-three times, and to say the Takbir thirty-four times". He said: "Then a man from the Ansar had a dream in which someone said: 'The Messenger of Allah ordered you to say the Tasbiḥ at the end of every Salat thirty-three times, and to say the Taḥmid thirty-three times, and to say the Takbir thirty-four times?’ He said: 'Yes.’ He said: 'Then make them twenty-five and add the Tahlil (saying La ilaha illallah) to them.’ The next day he went to the Prophet and informed him, so he said: "Do it".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of reciting prayers after salat. The Prophet Muhammad PBUH instructed his followers to recite certain phrases such as Tasbi? and Takbir thirty-three and thirty-four times respectively at the end of every salah. Later on, a man from the Ansar had a dream in which someone told him to reduce the number of times these phrases were said and add another phrase called Tahlil which means saying “La ilaha illallah”. When he informed this dream to Prophet Muhammad PBUH, he accepted it and asked them to do it accordingly. This hadith teaches us that we should always follow what our beloved prophet has taught us even if it is modified by someone else in a dream or otherwise because Allah knows best what is good for us.
