Fathers of Three Ethnic Groups

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ mentioned the fathers of three different ethnic groups.

Narrated Samurah: that the Prophet said: "Sam was the father of Arabs, Ham the father of the Ethiopians, and Yafith the father of the Romans".
حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ الْعَقَدِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ سَمُرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ قَالَ ‏ "‏ سَامٌ أَبُو الْعَرَبِ وَحَامٌ أَبُو الْحَبَشِ وَيَافِثُ أَبُو الرُّومِ

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ mentioned three fathers in this hadith; Sam was the father of Arabs, Ham the father of Ethiopians and Yafith the father of Romans.
