Heeding the Message of Allah

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) raised his voice and warned his tribe of near kindred to heed the message of Allah.

Narrated Qasamah bin Zuhair: "Al-Ash'ari said: 'When (the following) was revealed: 'And warn your tribe of near kindred (26:214)' the Messenger of Allah placed his fingers in his ears, raised his voice and said: 'O Banu 'Abd Manaf! Hearken!'"
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي زِيَادٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زَيْدٍ، عَنْ عَوْفٍ، عَنْ قَسَامَةَ بْنِ زُهَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَشْعَرِيُّ، قَالَ لَمَّا نَزَلََ ‏:‏ ‏(‏وأنْذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ الأَقْرَبِينَ ‏)‏ وَضَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ أَصْبُعَيْهِ فِي أُذُنَيْهِ فَرَفَعَ مِنْ صَوْتِهِ فَقَالَ ‏"‏ يَا بَنِي عَبْدِ مَنَافٍ يَا صَبَاحَاهُ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَبِي مُوسَى ‏.‏ وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ بَعْضُهُمْ عَنْ عَوْفٍ عَنْ قَسَامَةَ بْنِ زُهَيْرٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ مُرْسَلاً وَلَمْ يَذْكُرُوا فِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى وَهُوَ أَصَحُّ ذَاكَرْتُ بِهِ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ إِسْمَاعِيلَ فَلَمْ يَعْرِفْهُ مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَبِي مُوسَى

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of heeding the message of Allah. It was narrated by Qasamah bin Zuhair and Al-Ash’ari that when a verse from the Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad PBUH, he placed his fingers in his ears, raised his voice and said “O Banu 'Abd Manaf! Hearken!” This shows us how important it is for us to listen to what Allah has commanded us in His book. We should take heed from this hadith that we must always be mindful of our duties towards God and follow His commands with sincerity. We should also strive to spread His message so that others may benefit from it as well.
