Jami at-Tirmidhi 3166 (Book 47, Hadith 218) #28815
The Truthfulness of Ibrahim (Peace Be Upon Him)

SUMMARY: Ibrahim (peace be upon him) did not lie about anything except for three occasions.

Narrated Abu Hurairah: that the Messenger of Allah said: "Ibrahim, peace be upon him, did not lie about anything at all - except for three: 'Verily I am sick (37:89)' while he was not sick. And his saying about Sarah: 'She is my sister' and his saying: 'Nay, this one, the biggest of them did it (21:63)'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Speak truthfully no matter what situation we are in or how difficult it may seem to do so .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the truthfulness of the prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him). It is narrated by Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said that Ibrahim never lied about anything at all except for three occasions. The first was when he said “Verily I am sick” while he was not actually sick. The second was when he said “She is my sister” in reference to his wife Sarah and the third was when he blamed a big one among them for something they had done. This hadith teaches us that even though prophets are infallible and sinless, they can make mistakes sometimes but still remain truthful in their words and actions. It also teaches us to always speak truthfully no matter what situation we are in or how difficult it may seem to do so.
