Jami at-Tirmidhi 3064 (Book 47, Hadith 116) #28713
Denying the Message of Allah

SUMMARY: The hadith is about how Abu Jahl denied the Prophet's message, and Allah revealed a verse in response.

Narrated 'Ali: "Abu Jahl said to the Prophet : 'We do not deny you, but we deny what you came with'. So Allah Most High revealed: It is not you that they deny but is Allah's Ayat which the wrong-doers reject (6:33)".

QUICK LESSONS:
Accepting God’s messages and teachings with an open heart and mind
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how Abu Jahl refused to accept the message that was brought by Prophet Muhammad. In response, Allah Most High revealed a verse from the Quran which states that it is not the Prophet they are denying but rather it is Allah's signs and verses which are being rejected by wrongdoers. This hadith teaches us that we should never deny or reject any of God's messages or teachings as this will lead to severe consequences. We should always strive to accept and follow His commands with an open heart and mind. Furthermore, this hadith also teaches us that we should never be discouraged when people do not believe in our message as ultimately it is up to God whether He accepts our efforts or not.
