Sahih al-Bukhari 3000 (Book 56, Hadith 209) #2869
Combining Prayers When Travelling

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) would combine the Maghrib and 'Isha' prayers when he was in a hurry on a journey.

Narrated Aslam: While I was in the company of 'Abdullah bin 'Umar on the way to Mecca, he received the news of the severe illness of Safiya bint Abi Ubaid (ie his wife), so he proceeded at greater speed, and when the twilight disappeared, he dismounted and offered the Maghrib and 'Isha 'prayers together and said, " I saw the Prophet delaying the Maghrib prayer to offer it along with the 'Isha' when he was in a hurry on a journey".

QUICK LESSONS:
Combine two prayers if you are in a rush or have an excuse such as illness or other reasons for being unable to perform them separately
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about combining two prayers, Maghrib and 'Isha', when travelling. It was narrated by Aslam that while he was travelling with Abdullah bin Umar, they received news of the severe illness of Safiya bint Abi Ubaid, so they proceeded at greater speed. When the twilight disappeared, Abdullah bin Umar dismounted and offered the Maghrib and 'Isha' prayers together. He said that he saw the Prophet doing this when he was in a hurry on a journey. This hadith teaches us that it is permissible to combine two prayers when travelling if one is in a rush or has an excuse such as illness or other reasons for being unable to perform them separately. It also shows us how important it is to be considerate of others’ needs even during prayer times; Abdullah bin Umar combined his prayers so that they could reach their destination sooner due to his wife’s illness.
