Pace of the Prophet (ﷺ) During Hajjat-ul-Wada'

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) rode at a medium pace during Hajjat-ul-Wada', but when he came upon an open way he would go at full pace.

Narrated Hisham's father: Usama bin Zaid was asked at what pace the Prophet rode during Hajjat-ul-Wada' "He rode at a medium pace, but when he came upon an open way he would go at full pace".
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي قَالَ، سُئِلَ أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ كَانَ يَحْيَى يَقُولُ وَأَنَا أَسْمَعُ فَسَقَطَ عَنِّي ـ عَنْ مَسِيرِ النَّبِيِّ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ، قَالَ فَكَانَ يَسِيرُ الْعَنَقَ، فَإِذَا وَجَدَ فَجْوَةً نَصَّ‏.‏ وَالنَّصُّ فَوْقَ الْعَنَقِ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the pace of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ during his farewell pilgrimage. It was narrated by Hisham's father that Usama bin Zaid was asked what speed the Prophet ﷺ rode at during his pilgrimage and he replied that it was a medium speed, but when there were open roads, he would ride at full speed. This hadith teaches us to be mindful of our actions and to be conscious of how we are spending our time. We should use our time wisely and not waste it on things that are not beneficial for us or others around us. We should also strive to do things with excellence, even if it is something as simple as riding a horse or walking down a road.
