Focus your attention on worshipping and serving God as He alone is everlasting and eternal.

This hadith, narrated by Abu Hurairah, speaks to the impermanence of all things in this world except for Allah. It is based on a statement made by Labid, an Arab poet who said “Everything aside from Allah perishes”. This hadith teaches us that nothing in this world is permanent and that only Allah will remain forever. We should not become attached to worldly possessions or people because they are all temporary and will eventually pass away. Instead we should focus our attention on worshipping and serving Allah as He alone is everlasting and eternal.
