QUICK LESSONS:
Respect elders & leaders ; Strive to emulate good qualities ; Avoid behavior seen as arrogant or boastful

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Jabir states that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised against using his Kunyah when naming oneself after him. A kunya is a nickname or title given to a person, usually in Arabic, which includes the word ‘Abu’ or ‘Umm’ followed by another name. For example, Abu Bakr and Umm Kulthum are two famous kunyas. It is believed that the Prophet Muhammad did not want people to use his kunya as it would be disrespectful and inappropriate for anyone else to use it other than himself. This hadith teaches us respect for our elders and leaders, as well as humility in our actions and words. We should not try to imitate them in any way that could be seen as disrespectful or inappropriate. Instead, we should strive to emulate their good qualities such as kindness, generosity and justice while avoiding any behavior that could be seen as arrogant or boastful.
