Greeting with As-Salamu Alaik

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ taught Jabir bin Sulaim to say "As-Salamu Alaik" instead of "Alaikas-Salam".

Narrated Abu Ghifar Al-Muthanna bin Sa'eed At-Ta'i: from Abu Tamimah al-Hujaimi from Jabir bin Sulaim who said: "I went to the Prophet and I said: ''Alaikas-Salam (upon you be peace)' so he replied: 'Do not say "'Alaikas-Salam" rather say As-Salamu Alaik'." And he mentioned the story in its entirety.

QUICK LESSONS:
Use respectful language when greeting people

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of greeting people with respect and kindness. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught Jabir bin Sulaim to say “As Salamu Alaik” instead of “Alaikas Salam” when greeting someone. This phrase is a respectful way to greet someone in Arabic and it translates to “Peace be upon you”. It is important for us to remember that we should always greet people with respect and kindness no matter who they are or where they come from. We should also remember that our words have power and can make a difference in how we interact with others. By using kind words when we greet each other, we can create an atmosphere of peace and understanding between us all.
