The Consequences of Lying About the Prophet

SUMMARY: Lying about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is a major sin and will result in punishment in the afterlife.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud: that the Messenger of Allah said: "Whoever lies upon me, then let him take his seat in the Fire".
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هِشَامٍ الرِّفَاعِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ، عَنْ زِرٍّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ مَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَىَّ مُتَعَمِّدًا فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ
