Welcoming with Exhortation

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ advised people to welcome those who come from the east and to exhort them to do good.

Narrated Abu Harun Al-'Abdi: from Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri that the Prophet said: "Men will come to you from the direction of the east to learn. So when they come to you then exhort them to good". He said: "When Abu Sa'eed saw us he would say: 'Welcome with the exhortation of the Messenger of Allah, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family'."
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا نُوحُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هَارُونَ الْعَبْدِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ قَالَ ‏ "‏ يَأْتِيكُمْ رِجَالٌ مِنْ قِبَلِ الْمَشْرِقِ يَتَعَلَّمُونَ فَإِذَا جَاءُوكُمْ فَاسْتَوْصُوا بِهِمْ خَيْرًا ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ فَكَانَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ إِذَا رَآنَا قَالَ مَرْحَبًا بِوَصِيَّةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏.‏ قَالَ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ إِلاَّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَبِي هَارُونَ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ

This hadith is about welcoming people with kindness and exhorting them to do good deeds. The Prophet Muhammad, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family, advised people to welcome those who come from the east with an exhortation of goodness. He also said that when Abu Sa'eed saw them he would say “Welcome with the exhortation of the Messenger of Allah, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family” as a reminder for everyone that we should always strive for goodness in our lives. This hadith teaches us that we should always be kind towards others, no matter where they come from or what their beliefs are, by welcoming them warmly into our lives while encouraging them to do good deeds.
