Sahih al-Bukhari 2947 (Book 56, Hadith 159) #2819
The Use of Equivocation in Ghazwas

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would use an equivocation when leading a Ghazwa, so that people would not know his true destination.

Narrated Ka'b bin Malik: Whenever Allah's Messenger intended to lead a Ghazwa, he would use an equivocation from which one would understand that he was going to a different destination .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the practice of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) when he was leading a Ghazwa. A Ghazwa is an Islamic term for a battle or military expedition. When the Prophet was about to lead one, he would use an equivocation, which is a statement that has two meanings and can be interpreted in different ways. By doing this, people wouldn't know his true destination and it could help protect him from any potential danger or harm. This hadith teaches us to think carefully before we speak and to consider how our words may be interpreted by others. It also shows us the importance of being mindful of our safety and security in times of difficulty or danger.
