Tying the Camel and Trusting in Allah

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised a man to tie his camel and trust in Allah.

Anas bin Malik narrated that a man said: "O Messenger of Allah! Shall I tie it and rely(upon Allah), or leave it loose and rely(upon Allah)?" He said: "Tie it and rely(upon Allah)". Other chains report similar narrations.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَفْصٍ، عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ أَبِي قُرَّةَ السَّدُوسِيُّ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ، يَقُولُ قَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَعْقِلُهَا وَأَتَوَكَّلُ أَوْ أُطْلِقُهَا وَأَتَوَكَّلُ قَالَ ‏ "‏ اعْقِلْهَا وَتَوَكَّلْ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ يَحْيَى وَهَذَا عِنْدِي حَدِيثٌ مُنْكَرٌ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَنَسٍ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ إِلاَّ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ الضَّمْرِيِّ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ نَحْوُ هَذَا

This hadith is about trusting in Allah. It was narrated by Anas bin Malik, who reported that a man asked the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH): "Should I tie my camel and rely upon Allah, or leave it loose and rely upon Him?" The Prophet replied, "Tie it and rely upon Him." This hadith teaches us that we should always put our trust in God while taking practical steps to ensure our safety. We should not be complacent or careless when it comes to matters of safety or security; rather, we should take all necessary precautions while relying on God for His help. We can also learn from this hadith that even small acts of faith can have great rewards if done with sincerity.
