The Benefits of Silence

SUMMARY: Being silent is beneficial and can save one from harm.

'Abdullah bin 'Amr narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: "Whoever is silent, he is saved".
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْمُعَافِرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ مَنْ صَمَتَ نَجَا ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ إِلاَّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ لَهِيعَةَ ‏.‏ وَأَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِيُّ هُوَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that being silent can be beneficial and can save us from harm. He said, “Whoever is silent, he is saved”. This means that if we remain quiet and don't say anything that could cause trouble or hurt someone else's feelings, then we will be safe from any potential danger or harm. It also implies that it's better to think before speaking so as to avoid saying something wrong or inappropriate. Furthermore, it teaches us the importance of self-control and restraint in our speech so as to protect ourselves from any potential danger or harm. In addition, this hadith encourages us to think twice before speaking in order to maintain peace and harmony in our relationships with others.
