The Reward of Gratitude

SUMMARY: Eating with gratitude is as rewarding as fasting.

Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet(s.a.w) said: "The one who eats and is grateful is like the status of the patient fasting person".

QUICK LESSONS:
Eat gratefully

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith by Prophet Muhammad(s.a.w) teaches us the importance of being grateful for what we have and how it can be just as rewarding as fasting. It is a reminder to us that even when we are eating, if we do so with an attitude of gratitude and appreciation for the food that Allah has provided us with, then it will be rewarded in the same way that fasting would be rewarded. We should always remember to thank Allah for all our blessings and not take them for granted.

The Prophet(s.a.w) was teaching us here about the power of gratitude and how it can bring great rewards from Allah even when we are doing something seemingly mundane like eating food or drinking water - if done with an attitude of thankfulness then it will be rewarded greatly by Allah in both this world and the hereafter!

This hadith also serves as a reminder to us that no matter what situation we find ourselves in - whether good or bad - there is always something to be thankful for! We should never forget to express our thanks and appreciation to Allah for all His blessings upon us no matter how small they may seem at times!
