Jami at-Tirmidhi 2483 (Book 37, Hadith 69) #28118
Rewards of Spending Except Dust or Building

SUMMARY: The hadith is about Khabbab who was ill for a long time and was cauterized in seven places on his body. He said that he would have wished for death if it wasn't for the Prophet's saying that no one should wish for death. The Prophet also said that a man is rewarded for all of his spending except the dust or building.

Harithah bin Mudarrib said: "We went to visit Khabbab who had himself cauterized in seven places on his body. He said: 'I have been ill for so long, and if it was not that I heard the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) saying: "None of you should wish for death" then I would have wished for it, and he said: "A man is rewarded for all of his spending except for the dust" - or he said - "in the building".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith talks about Khabbab, who was ill and cauterized in seven places on his body, and how he wanted to wish for death but remembered the words of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ which said no one should wish for death. The Prophet also mentioned that a man will be rewarded with all of his spending except dust or building materials used in construction projects. This hadith teaches us to be patient during difficult times, not to give up hope, and to remember Allah's rewards are great even when we spend small amounts such as dust or building materials used in construction projects. It also reminds us not to wish for death as it is something only Allah can decide when our time has come and gone.
