Removing Materialistic Pleasures

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) advised to remove a curtain with pictures on it as it reminded him of the world and its materialistic pleasures.

'Aishah narrated: "We had a cloth which had some pictures on it as a curtain on my door. The Messenger of Allah(s.a.w) saw it and said: 'Remove it, for it reminds me of the world'." She said: "We had a piece of velvet that had patches of silk on it which we used to wear".

QUICK LESSONS:
Remove anything that takes away your focus on Allah’s remembrance & worship .

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) is advising us to remove materialistic pleasures from our lives as they can be a distraction from our spiritual journey and connection with Allah SWT. He saw a curtain with pictures on it and asked for it to be removed because it reminded him of the world and its materialistic pleasures which can take away from our focus on Allah SWT's remembrance, prayer, and worship. This hadith teaches us that we should not get too attached to worldly possessions or become too focused on them as they will only distract us from what is truly important in life - worshipping Allah SWT and striving for Jannah! We should strive to keep ourselves away from anything that takes away our focus on Allah SWT's remembrance, prayer, or worship so that we may stay connected spiritually with Him at all times!
