Sahih al-Bukhari 2935 (Book 56, Hadith 148) #2808
Responding to Curses

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) taught us to respond to those who curse us with the same words they used.

Narrated 'Aisha: Once the Jews came to the Prophet and said, "Death be upon you". So I cursed them. The Prophet said, "What is the matter?" I said, "Have you not heard what they said?" The Prophet said, "Have you not heard what I replied (to them)? (I said), ('The same is upon you'.)"

QUICK LESSONS:
Think before speaking so our words are not hurtful or offensive towards others; Treat others kindly even if they are unkind towards you; Respond with kindness instead of aggression or hostility; Remain calm and composed even in difficult situations .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that when someone curses us, we should not respond in kind. Instead, we should reply with the same words they used. This is a lesson in self-control and restraint, as it is easy to become angry and lash out when someone insults or curses you. However, this hadith shows that the Prophet (ﷺ) taught us to remain calm and composed even in difficult situations. We can also learn from this hadith that it is important for us to think before we speak so that our words are not hurtful or offensive towards others.

The Prophet's response of "the same is upon you" was a way of showing kindness and mercy towards those who cursed him instead of responding with anger or hatred. It teaches us an important lesson about how we should treat others even if they are unkind towards us - by responding with kindness instead of aggression or hostility.
