Prioritizing Allah's Pleasure

SUMMARY: Seeking Allah's pleasure should be prioritized over seeking the people's pleasure.

'Abdul-Wahhab bin Al-Ward narrated from a man among the inhabitants of Al-Madinah who said: "Mu'awiyah wrote a letter to 'Aishah, that: 'Write a letter to advise me , and do not overburden me'." He said: "So 'Aishah may Allah be pleased with herwrote to Mu'awiyah: 'Peace be upon you. As for what follows: Indeed I heard the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) saying: Whoever seeks Allah's pleasure by the people's wrath, Allah will suffice him from the people. And who ever seeks the people's pleasure by Allah's wrath, Allah will entrust him to the people. And Peace be upon you'."

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about prioritizing the pleasure of Allah over the pleasure of people. It was narrated by 'Abdul-Wahhab bin Al-Ward from a man in Madinah who said that Mu'awiyah wrote to Aishah asking her to write him a letter of advice. In response Aishah quoted a saying from Prophet Muhammad which states that whoever seeks Allah’s pleasure by the people’s wrath will be taken care of by Allah and whoever seeks the people’s pleasure by Allah’s wrath will be entrusted to them. This hadith teaches us that we should prioritize pleasing God over pleasing other people as it is only God who can protect us and provide for us in times of difficulty. We must remember that our ultimate goal should always be to please God and not worry too much about what other people think or say about us.
