Praying for Retribution

SUMMARY: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) prayed to Allah to fill the houses and graves of the infidels with fire as they had caused a lot of trouble.

Narrated 'Ali: When it was the day of the battle of Al-Ahzab (ie the clans), Allah's Messenger said, "O Allah! Fill their (ie the infidels') houses and graves with fire as they busied us so much that we did not perform the prayer (ie 'Asr) till the sun set".

QUICK LESSONS:
Turn towards God during difficult times; Ask Him for help instead taking matters into your own hands; Remain patient; Trust in God’s plan .
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how Prophet Muhammad ﷺ prayed to Allah for retribution against those who caused him and his followers a lot of trouble. The battle of Al-Ahzab was a difficult time for Muslims as they were surrounded by enemies on all sides. As a result, they were so busy that they could not perform their afternoon prayer until sunset. In response to this situation, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ prayed to Allah asking Him to fill the houses and graves of the infidels with fire in retribution for their actions. This teaches us that we should always turn towards Allah in times of difficulty and ask Him for help instead of taking matters into our own hands. It also shows us that justice will be served in due time if we remain patient and trust in God’s plan.
