Jami at-Tirmidhi 2402 (Book 36, Hadith 100) #28037
The Regret of Those Who Were Pardoned

SUMMARY: On the Day of Judgement, those who were pardoned in life will regret not being tried and tested.

Jabir narrated that the Prophet (s.a.w) said: "On the Day of Judgement, when the people who were tried (in this world) are given their rewards, the people who were pardoned (in life), will wish that their skins had been cut off with scissors while they were in the world". This Hadith is Gharib, we do not know of it with this chain except through this route. Some of them have reported something similar to this Hadith from Al-A'mash, from Talhah bin Musarrif from Masruq.

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive to do good deeds even if you are not facing any difficulties or hardships; Be grateful for your blessings; Have patience during trials and tribulations; Persevere during difficult times.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the Day of Judgement when people will be rewarded for their deeds in this world. It is narrated by Jabir that Prophet Muhammad said that on that day those who were pardoned in life will wish they had been tried and tested instead. This means that even though they were spared from trials and tribulations in this world, they will regret it on the Day of Judgement as it would have been better for them to have gone through these tests so they could receive rewards for their patience and perseverance. This teaches us to never take our blessings for granted as we may not realize how much we need them until it is too late. We should also strive to do good deeds even if we are not facing any difficulties or hardships as these good deeds can help us earn rewards from Allah on the Day of Judgment.
