Remembering the Prophet's Departure

SUMMARY: Aishah remembers the circumstances of the Prophet's death and how he would not eat his fill of bread and meat twice in a day.

Masruq said: "I entered upon 'Aishah and she invited me to eat. She said: 'Whenever I eat my fill of food I want to cry and begin crying'. He said: "I said : 'Why?' She said: 'I remember the circumstances under which the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) parted from the world. By Allah! He would not eat his fill of bread and meat twice in a day'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Remembering our beloved prophet; Being mindful about our consumption habits; Being grateful for what we have been blessed with; Emulating his example in all aspects of life; Being generous towards others even if it means sacrificing some comfort for ourselves.

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Masruq tells us about Aishah's remembrance of the circumstances under which the Messenger of Allah passed away. She was so moved by her memories that she felt like crying whenever she ate her fill of food. This is because she remembered that Prophet Muhammad did not usually eat his fill twice in a day. This hadith teaches us to remember our beloved prophet and to be mindful about our consumption habits as well as to be grateful for what we have been blessed with. We should also strive to emulate his example in all aspects of life including being content with whatever we have been given and being generous towards others even if it means sacrificing some comfort for ourselves.
