The Best & Worst Leaders

SUMMARY: The Prophet (s.a.w) informs us that the best of leaders are those who love and are loved by their people, and supplicate for each other, while the worst of them are those who hate and curse each other.

'Umar bin Al-Khattab narrated that the Prophet(s.a.w) said: "Shall I not inform you of the best of your leaders and the worst of them: The best of them are those whom you love and they love you, you supplicate for them, and they supplicate for you. And the evilest of your leaders are those who hate you, and you hate them, and they curse you and you curse them".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about leadership and how to identify the best leaders from the worst ones. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that the best leaders are those whom we love, they love us back, we supplicate for them, and they supplicate for us in return. On the contrary, he warned us against bad leaders who hate their people and vice versa; they curse each other instead of praying for one another's well-being. This hadith teaches us to be mindful when choosing our leaders as it can have a great impact on our lives as a community or nation. It also encourages mutual respect between citizens and their rulers so that everyone can benefit from it in this life as well as in the hereafter.
