Sahih al-Bukhari 2913 (Book 56, Hadith 126) #2786
The Power of Allah's Name

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) was sleeping under a tree when a man came and took his sword out of its scabbard. The Prophet (ﷺ) replied with the name of Allah and the man put the sword back in its scabbard without any punishment from the Prophet (ﷺ).

Narrated Jabir: as above . Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah: That he participated in a Ghazwa (Holy-Battle) in the company of Allah's Messenger . Midday came upon them while they were in a valley having many thorny trees. The people dispersed to rest in the shade of the trees. The Prophet rested under a tree, hung his sword on it, and then slept. Then he woke up to find near to him, a man whose presence he had not noticed before. The Prophet said, "This (man) took my sword (out of its scabbard) and said, 'Who will save you from me'. I replied, 'Allah'. So, he put the sword back into its scabbard, and you see him sitting here". Anyhow, the Prophet did not punish him.

QUICK LESSONS:
Have faith in God at all times, Call upon His name sincerely during difficult times

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about an incident that happened to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ while he was on a Ghazwa or holy battle. He had stopped for rest under a tree and fell asleep, leaving his sword hung on it. When he woke up, there was a man standing near him who had taken out his sword from its scabbard. When asked who would save him from this man, he replied with “Allah”. Upon hearing this, the man put back the sword into its scabbard without any punishment from the Prophet ﷺ. This incident shows us how powerful Allah’s name is and how it can protect us in times of danger or distress. It also teaches us to always have faith in Him no matter what situation we are in as He will always be there to help us if we call upon His name sincerely.
