Jami at-Tirmidhi 2197 (Book 33, Hadith 40) #27830
Trading Faith for Worldly Possessions

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) warned that before the Day of Judgement, there will be a time of great turmoil and people will be willing to trade their faith for worldly possessions.

Anas bin Malik narrated that the Messenger of Allah(s.a.w) said: "Before the Hour there shall be Fitan like a portion of the dark night. Morning will come upon a man as a believer, who will be a disbeliever in the evening, and evening will come upon a believer, who will be a disbeliever in the morning, people will sell their religion for goods of the world".

QUICK LESSONS:
Stay true to your beliefs in Allah and His teachings . Worship Allah alone without associating any partners with Him or compromising on His teachings no matter what temptations come your way from this world .

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) warned his followers about a time of great turmoil before the Day of Judgement known as fitan or trials and tribulations. During this time people will be willing to trade their faith for worldly possessions such as money and material goods instead of staying true to their beliefs in Allah and His teachings. This hadith serves as a reminder that our faith is more important than any material possession we may have in this world because it is only through our faith that we can gain salvation in the hereafter. It also teaches us not to get too attached to worldly things because they are fleeting and can easily lead us astray from our true purpose in life which is worshipping Allah alone without associating any partners with Him or compromising on His teachings no matter what temptations come our way from this world.
